Wasco County Library meeting room, 722 Court Street, The Dalles
7:00 - 8:30 PM
Just a note that The Mid-Columbia Democratic Women will meet immediately prior to our meeting, at 6 pm, in the same location.
Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian will be our guest. He always has interesting things to report and is well worth coming to meet.
This month we will be electing a Chair and Vice Chair to serve until December 2010. At the August meeting, Darcy Long-Curtiss and Bill Lennox resigned from their positions so they can focus on their campaigns for two Wasco County Commissioner seats. Darcy and Bill appointed Teresa Hepker as Chair Pro-tem and Dan Curtiss as Vice Chair Pro-tem. Both Teresa and Dan are willing to serve until December. Other candidates for Chair and Vice Chair are welcome and should come to the meeting to be included on the ballot.
On Sept 7 we will open Democratic Headquarters at 508-1/2 Washington Street, and will announce operating hours soon. Volunteers are needed for the following activiites:
Cleaning and setup, Saturday Sept. 4, 10 AM to 3 PM. Hanging signs, moving some furniture, supplies, literature, etc. We have the tools and supplies needed, just show up ready to work.
Grand Opening Saturday, Sept. 11 - hours TBA. We need a committee chair to organize this event, as Teresa and Dan will both be attending the State Central Committee meeting that weekend in Astoria.
Staffing for headquarters - hours of operation depend on having volunteers present in the office ready to greet the public and do other tasks as they arise. It's not likely to be very busy because this is not a presidential election year, but being visible and available to the public is an important part of our mission as the Democratic Central Committee. If you can spend a few hours a week please call Teresa at 541-965-2701.
