Jeff Merkley, candidate for US Senate, is hitting The Dalles as part of his 100 Cities in 100 Days Tour. He'll be spending some time in the late afternoon on the streets in downtown The Dalles, meeting people as they watch the classic cars cruise through town. Starting at 7 PM, grilled hot dogs and all the trimmings will be served on the patio in front of the house at 508 Washington Street. Come by to meet Jeff Merkley, chomp on a gourmet dog, and enjoy the summer evening with like-minded friends.

Wasco County Democrats will again have a booth on the beautiful shady lawn. We'll have a big Obama sign to display this year, plus bumper stickers, buttons, and laid-back discussions. (Nothing is in a hurry at Wasco County Fair.) The fair is in Tygh Valley, about 30 miles south of The Dalles. Load up the family and come out for a day. Thursday is Family Day, and there is no admission charge. There are lots of activities for everyone: carnival, 4-H and FFA exhibits, rodeo, demolition derby, music, dancing. Pick up a fair book at The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce for details.
