Wasco County Democrats will have a booth at Jammin' July Street Fest in downtown The Dalles.

This evening event draws hundreds of people out for food & fun. Lots of street vendors, many family activities. The Dems booth will offer bumper stickers and buttons, voter registration, and Democratic fellowship.

Look for the blue pop-up canopy that says DEMOCRATS on it!

Volunteers needed to walk beside the float and hand out water bottles to the parade watchers. The bottles promote our Democratic candidates.

The parade starts at Safeway at 10 AM. Meet at 9:30 - look for yellow "Elect Ahern" signs.

This is a shorter parade route than the usual one, and the weather will probably be hot. Hats suggested!

Tim & Ann Brown are hosting a dinner party and salon with guest John Kroger, the soon-to-be-elected Oregon Attorney General. Mr. Kroger will meet earlier in the day with city, county and business leaders for a briefing on the City of The Dalles efforts to expand the urban growth boundary. He will join local Democrats for dinner and more discussion on that issue.

The City of The Dalles is required by state law to have a 20-year buildable supply of land. The Gorge Scenic Act uses the current urban growth boundary (UGB) as the boundary of the Scenic Area. The Dalles is seeking to expand its UGB in order to comply with state land use laws, and seeks approval from the Gorge Commission; but the Commission seems unlikely to agree. A showdown looks imminent, and the Oregon Attorney General’s office is likely to play a part.

We have invited John Kroger, who is almost certain to be the next A.G., to listen to the varied viewpoints of people in Wasco County. Come take part in this discussion, in a relaxed setting. Great food included. Never had cioppino?  *   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cioppino <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cioppino
