Events
Thank you for your continued support and energy! This has been one of the most exciting presidential primaries in Oregon's history. And we're not done yet!
This week Obama won a decisive victory in North Carolina and finished closer than anyone expected in Indiana. We just got word this morning that ballots are still being counted in Indiana and we're under 1%.
Hillary's votes: 637,814 - 50.4%
Barack's votes: 626,642 - 49.6%
Difference: 11,152 votes (less than 1%)
Note: This difference is approximately the number of potential voters in Hood River County, and less than the number of voters in Wasco County. Your vote matters.
This weekend we have a chance to finish this race and secure the nomination - but we need your help to do it. There are a couple key ways for you to help finish this race:
The number one need we have now is for canvass shifts. We need at least 15 canvassers on Saturday and Sunday in order to reach our goal. Please send me an email/call to let me know which shift you can take. If you can't make it at one of these times, just send an email and let me know when you can come.
Hood River Canvasses (Meet at 14 Oak St. 3rd Floor, Hood River):
Saturday: 12:00 and 3:00
Sunday: 1:00
The Dalles Canvasses (Meet at Wasco County Democrats Office, 508 1/2 Washington St, The Dalles):
Saturday: 10:00
Sunday: 12:00
To prepare for these canvasses, and to win in Oregon, I need to know when you can volunteer this weekend. Please call or email me your availability.
Thanks again - just 12 days to go!

5 to 7 PM - Primary Election Reception - The Mint, 710 E. 2nd Street, The Dalles
House Majority Leader Dave Hunt and Jefferson County Commissioner Mike Ahern invite you to a reception (and fundraiser). Hors d'oeuvres, refreshments, politics & good time had by all!
7 to 10 PM - Watch the Election Returns with Democrats & Friends - New York City Sub Shop, 400 E 2nd Street, The Dalles
No Host beer & wine, coffee & soft drinks, great sub sandwiches - & a big screen TV!
Why are we canvassing so early? Because there are a lot of voters to talk to, before we can elect a bunch of Democrats in November!
Mike Ahern, Democratic Candidate for Oregon House of Representatives, will be canvassing in The Dalles today. Join Mike and other volunteers to talk to voters in the neighborhoods of The Dalles. We will be asking "voter ID" questions -- to identify how folks think they will vote in November, and help build Mike Ahern's name familiarity among the voters.
A couple hours of your time will really help. This is low-stress canvassing, talking to Democrats and non-affiliated voters. Mary E. came back after an hour and a half last Saturday and said, "That was fun!"
Call 298-4700 to RSVP - be sure to leave a message if calling outside office hours.
This month we will meet at Democratic Headquarters instead of the library.
We are at 508 1/2 Washington Street in The Dalles. Our office is in the basement of the big old house across Washington Street from the county courthouse. "Top Dog Grooming" has a neon sign in the window facing the street.
Enter from the alley - look for the American flag over the doorway. There are two steps down.
Parking in the alley spaces and behind the building should be OK in the evening hours.
